Sunday Night Teleconference Call With Coach Beamer: Gamecocks to be without 2 defensive starters (WITH AUDIO)
Sept. 11, 2022

On Sunday, Shane Beamer spoke to reporters on a media teleconference. The South Carolina head coach confirmed his team will be without EDGE Jordan Strachan and LB Mo Kaba after they were injured in the Arkansas game. Beamer said that Gilber Edmond would start for Strachan at the Gamecocks’ EDGE spot.

Coach Beamer said. "Jordan Strachan and Mo Kaba will certainly be out this week." They’ll have some more information to release once they can talk to those guys face-to-face. Everybody else should be good,

Beamer did have some positive news on the injury front. DL Alex Huntley looks to be fine going forward. DB R.J. Roderick practiced Sunday and should be back for the Week 3 contest. WR Corey Rucker could potentially be available and Christian Beal-Smith is good.

More highlights
  • The defense was on the field for too many plays yesterday, tested their depth and he liked how some of the depth chart guys contributed.
  • Guys who practice the best are the ones who play he said in responding to a question about the lack of work by Josh Vann to this point. They compete every day in practice and guys earn their playing time.
  • Got to continue to build up and develop the running game, felt they did pop a few good runs Saturday, and ran counterplay with Lloyd for a touchdown, so that’s a sign, receivers were getting open and Rattler was getting more comfortable, Emmanwori looked great.
  • Rattler played well Saturday but can play a lot better, missed some deep ball opportunities.
