State's top junior girls prospect picks USC

6-4 Alaina Coates of Dutch Fork, who is considered to be a national top 30 prospect by the analysts, committed to USC Sunday. Coates chose the Gamecocks over Georgia. She had also considered Tennessee. The commitment by Coates continues a string of in-state recruiting victories in recent years for USC coach Dawn Staley. Coates led her team to the 4A state title as a junior. She also finished fourth in the state track championships in the shot put. She also plays volleyball.
