Former South Carolina standout DeVonte Holloman’s hire doesn’t appear to be imminent, at least for the time being. Holloman, who was expected to accept a job on Shane Beamer’s staff in a report from On3.com’s Matt Zenitz, has not been offered a job of yet, Beamer said Thursday during an appearance on the “JB and Goldwater” radio show. “DeVonte is somebody that I have a lot of respect for,” Beamer said. “I won’t lie, I’ve had some conversations with DeVonte, but have not offered DeVonte anything at this point.”
If Holloman is hired, it could come in a handful of different roles — whether that be as an graduate assistant, analyst, or in another off-the-field role depending on what’s allowed under NCAA rules. The biggest snag in bringing Holloman aboard centers around an NCAA rule established in 2017 that prevented the hiring of anyone associated with a potential recruit in an off-the-field capacity within two years of the prospect’s signing.
