Defensive back Devonni Reed declare for NFL Draft
Dec. 20, 2022

South Carolina defensive back Devonni Reed announced Tuesday his plans to enter the 2023 NFL Draft. “After much consideration and prayer I am formally announcing that I will be declaring for the 2023 NFL draft,” Reed wrote in an Instagram post. Reed transferred to the Gamecocks from Central Michigan this season. He started seven games at safety and recorded 39 tackles, and one pass deflection for South Carolina.

Reed joins defensive backs Cam Smith and Darius Rush, as well as D-lineman Zacch Pickens, as the other Gamecocks who will enter the draft. Offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn said on Tuesday that he will “most likely” declare as well. It wasn’t immediately known if Reed will play in the Gator Bowl or not. He was practicing with the Gamecocks on Thursday at the portion of workouts that were open to reporters, but he has also battled injuries this season.
