Gamecocks led 5-0 in the 5th inning, with Brannon Jordan on the mound pitching to Holy Cross and recording the 2nd out of the side on his final strikeout of the game, when the game was suspended due to weather. The prospects didn't look good for resuming the game soon, and with it being the Sunday of the weekend series, and the Crusaders needing to head back home to Massachusetts, both staffs agreed to call it since they reached the minimum 5 innings for making the game official. So at 5.2 innings, the Gamecocks recorded their 3rd win out of 3 in the early season, and swept the Crusaders.

Jordan (1-0) pitched a strong 5.2 innings, allowing only 2 hits with 9 strikeouts and 0 walks, and 1 wild pitch. The Gamecocks batters registered 5 hits in the shortened game, with 4 of the hits being RBI singles, plus the other a solo homerun by Wes Clarke. The Crusaders had their first game without an error, after stumbling to 8 miscues in the first 2 games, while the Gamecocks recorded their first error of the young season.
