Saturday morning Gamecock recruiting report

Oct. 12, 2019

2021 WR Semaj James of Tallahassee has had a top three of USC, Auburn and LSU though he said his recruiting remains open. The Gamecocks continue to work him hard. “South Carolina has been showing major love and I can’t wait to get back up there.” James also likes Clemson and is hoping the Tigers will come thru with an offer. “Clemson is a big one for me. I’m just going to continue to put up numbers and hopefully they pull the trigger after seeing the numbers I’m putting up, and continuing to put up. Hopefully they pull the trigger.” Thru six games this season, James has 28 catches for 490 yards and 3 touchdowns according to MaxPreps stats.

2021 TE Bryson Nesbit of Charlotte, who was offered recently by USC, has also picked up offers from Florida, Maryland, NC State and Duke. He also has Louisville and Virginia offers.

2022 SAF Kamari Wilson of Fort Pierce, FL was offered earlier this week by USC. “I was extremely excited and blessed about the offer, and honored. They loved how I’m a ball hawk and how quick I get to the ball.”

USC offered 2022 RB Kaytron Allen of IMG Academy. He’s a native of Norfolk, VA.

2021 WR JJ Jones of Myrtle Beach was offered by Wake Forest.

Former USC commitment 2021 RB Lovasea Carroll of Warrenton, GA, who is now at IMG Academy, did not include the Gamecocks in his top 8. His top schools now are Florida, Penn State, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and Mississippi State. Carroll committed to the Gamecocks in May and decommitted September 1st.

Hopefully, today's game helps us out with the remaining recruits for this year and beyond.

FYI, I believe Bryson Nesbit is the son of Jamar and Tara Nesbit, both USC grads. I listened to Jamar doing the pre-game show and was very impressed with how simply he explained Offensive LIne concepts. It sounds like he should be coaching somewhere. I was a fan of Langston Moore when he did the sideline reporting, but it is good to have an O Lineman to give a different slant from Moore, who was a D Lineman.

Bryson also playsbasketball and is good enough to have a recruiting profile for that also. I would think that he could add weight pretty easily but he does not seem to have the frame to be an O Lineman - TE or DE would be my guess.
