If you like Napoleonic time period, you would probably like The Sharpe Series by Bernard Cornwell.  I believe there are 24 of them.

Another great series by Cornwell is the The Grail Quest Series (about a long bowman in the English army).

For my money, Bernard Cornwell is the best historical fiction author in the game.

You are right because I have read EVERYTHING Cornwell has every written. I read the Sharpe  series long ago.  I am waiting to purchase this winter his next book; Sword of Kings: A Novel (Saxon Tales Book 12)However, Griff Hosker is just as good and more prolific. I have also read Hosker's many series.

If you liked the Sharpe Series, You might read The Jack Lark Series by Paul Fraser Collard surrently 8 books - I am about to read the brand new #8.

Read this book years ago. Very fascinating. The stories are historical ficion and pass through generations starting from when London was founded as a roman outpost, all the way up through moderns times. Tower of London, Norman Consquest, World wars, etc.  Very well done.

Here is Edward Rutherfurd's classic novel of London, a glorious pageant spanning 2,000 years. He brings this vibrant city's long and noble history alive through the ever-shifting fortunes, fates, and intrigues of half-a-dozen families, from the age of Julius Caesar to the 20th century. Generation after generation, these families embody the passion, struggle, wealth, and verve of the greatest city in the world. (less)

Best historical fiction novel that I have read was "Guns of the South". I forget the author, but the story involved time traveling South African apartheid militia traveling back in time and arming the rebels with AK-47's... Very quick end of the conflict! That wasn't the end and I will not spoil it for those who may want to read it, but I found it quite entertaining.
