I think it was important for Hilnski's development to get a lot of snaps against Alabama, even late when the defenders were teeing off on him. I also think that they did not want to show too much against Alabama, once we got behind by multiple scores.

But I expect to see a LOT of Dak moving forward, both as a WR and QB. I think the plan is to use him as a WR, both catching passes and on end arounds, then switch him to QB without substituting. The D will not be able to adjust and Dak is very skilled, He could make a difference in a close game - like Mizzou could be.

I don’t remember seeing him yesterday. But stats show he had one catch for 13 yards. He needs the ball more.

That was what prompted me to post this.  I did not catch his jersey number when the pass was thrown and saw how quick he was and thought who the hell is that.  His speed and quickness jumped out to me.  After I saw it was Dak.  I guess I understand not wanting to get him hurt as he is our only back up QB and maybe that is why we are not seeing him more as a receiver

Can he field punts or kicks? Or would that be too big of a risk because he is the #2 QB?  He could be lethal in space returning kicks.

Being just the 2 would lean to risk because he is the #2 QB

I think he can but we need to force some punts to see.  I don't think you need your #2 QB fielding kicks of any type.

Can he play TE? Markway needs help.

What?? Did you not watch the game? Markway was solid and did a great job blocking in the run game.

I also agree that Dak needs the ball more as he can make things happen and is dangerous in space. I hope we use both him and get a better RB rotation moving forward.

I wish that Coach B-Mac would have used Dak on the "wide-roll-out-play" in case the run was not there - Dak could sling it down field.  Maybe we will see that in the future because he is "cat-quick".  I also wish he would either tighten his chinstrap or get a bigger helmet as it seems to fly off a lot and he has to come out for one play when this happens.

It’s his hair.  I’ve noticed it a lot this season, across football.  Players with a lot of hair, like dreds, have their helmets pop off with the slightest contact.  I would think it would be uncomfortable, as well.  I’ll bet the helmet wouldn’t pop off my bald melon very easily.

Boom is worried about the D, BMac is the one coming up with the adjustments on Offense.

The logic behind using Edwards is that he is both shifty and big, and can get YAC. He has done well returning punts, so he has some moves.

Dak is electric, but if you just put him in to do sweeps, then the D will key on that. But if he catches some passes, the D can't key on the sweeps. And if they have to look at Dak as both a receiver and a runner on sweeps, then they will be caught off-guard when he is used as a DT/Wildcat QB. Which is where we are headed. I would like to see him get a series each half, with Hilinski shifting to WR. Which will open up other wrinkles - does anyone remember Shaw catching a TD pass?

Bruce and Pharoh were both playmakers and both played QB in HS, but neither was a true passing QB. Their future was always at a different position.

Dak is a playmaker but is also a QB that can pass - and he is our back-up QB, one play away from being our starter.

Dak is selfless enough to play WR to help the team, and we need to take advantage of his skills. But we also need him as a QB - he needs to get behind Center for a least a series or two per game. That is his strength.

Agree 100%. He's the #2 QB. If he plays at all (which we need him to), it should be at QB, not at a less protected position. I'd love to see a wildcat (wild cock doesn't sound right to me) package that includes a legitimate pass threat. That would be fun to watch.

bmac isnt as bad as his predecessor when it comes to this, but it concerns me that we run our qb's more vs lesser competition than we do vs good teams.  ryan needs reps and yes we were behind big in the 2nd half, but ideally we run our qb's more against the good defenses and develop some semblance of balance.  as good as ryan looked, throwing 50+ times with only 22 carries by the backs and 0 qb runs (speed option was called) isnt likely to work against the ranked teams on our schedule.

going with the 2nd and 1 pass is outsmarting yourself just like the seahawks in the super bowl.  specifically on dak i will pull my hair out if he gets more touches including qb snaps the next 2 games and it goes well then we proceed to give him no qb snaps at georgia.  as good as ryan as, dont put the weight of the whole offense on his shoulders when its not necessary.
