Bentley

I will only say this here. But after watching Bentley for the last 2 years the kid chokes. I don't use the word choke lightly but in his case when he gets near the 20 yard line, he starts gasping for air. I don't know if he is pushing too hard or goes blind but he just can't get the job done anymore. You can even tell Coach Werner is probably thinking the same thing but wont say it.

Now that doesn't explain our defensive woes but that also falls on the coaching staff. Please take note, I am not saying fire CWM, but he will need to take a hard look at the staff come the end of the year.

I have been wary of saying anything along these lines as to not criticize our player, but yes I agree.  The moments seem to big for him.  I think he was loose at Clemson last year and played well because there was no real expectation that we were winning that game.  He seems to tighten up in the important ones and his accuracy really gets bad and I think it has a lot to do with what you said.

That's the TRUTH!

I agree that he seems to really stiffen up inside the 20, but he also does not seem to see the receivers that are open.  When he does see them inside the 20, he tends to overthrow, like he did to Shi, twice.

I can't figure out if our offense is coached badly, and the playcalling is really boring and predictable, or if it's Jake's panic problem that is causing the issues.  I guess we will start to see on Saturday, and even more so, a week from Saturday.

Actually. Saturday is too easy and Alabama too hard. I think Missouri will give us the best look at Ryan.

I hate to say this, but after looking at the game again and knowing our history on offense for the last couple of years, CWM is putting his nose into the offense more than I suspected. No way in hell you can hang 40 on klempzun and turn around the next 2 ballgames and flounder on offense. CWM needs to realize he cant ole school his way into wins. You have to score, even with a dominate defense (which we don't have). Hell, Bama realized as much when they benched Hurts for the Pineapple Express.

If CWM continues to micromanage the offense and the offensive staff he will be out of a job come the end of 2020.  The game plan for unc was really pathetic. Get 2 scores up then play keep away. Problem was our defense was bad and we made NO adjustments on either side of the ball when it was plain as day we could not execute on either side of the ball,

To continue, running RPOs on 3rd and long is as stupid as it gets. Especially late in the game when unc knows they are beating you at the line of scrimmage. Hell, running RPOs on any 3rd and long is stupid. Everyone in the stadium knows your not running on 3 and 9s. Just bad bad coaching.

FSU gave the world a lesson in that on Saturday. They were up 31-13 with 4 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. They lost 36-31. It doesn't matter if you're playing the 1985 Bears or the Shady Acres Nursing Home powder puff team. You put your damn foot down and whip their asses until the final whistle.

WOW!   What a PRIME example of playing not to lose. A Coach we know should take notice.

With Champ along with staff he himself needs to reflect on how he is running the show.  Agree he needs to take hard look at the staff.

This is what I am talking about with Champ need to look at himself as part of the issues here right now

My thoughts on Champ and would love to see him lose this label that goes back his tenure at Florida: He coaches not to lose rather than coaching to win. That is a defensive coaches style most times. However when you do that, you generally lose. Its kind of like playing a prevent defense with 3 minutes to go, all it does is prevent you from winning. Coaching "not to lose" is fine if you have a defense that can keep the other team out of the endzone; however, that hasn't been the case to date under Muschamp.  Hopefully we can get to the point that we have a dominating defense, but until then, we need to outscore the other team.  Last year, our offense was easily the more talented of the two sides, and I suspect it may be the same this year if we can get our O-line straightened out.  Right now we need to pretend we're a Big 12 team and scheme to outscore our opponents.

The fact that Scarnecchia didn't even get 1 series in that bowl game is still one of the greatest coaching atrocities of my lifetime

I'll do you one better....the fact that Scarnecchia basically saved our season last year with a brilliant performance against Missouri, and then not only did not get the start the next week, but also didn't see a single snap the rest of the season is a massive atrocity.

I'm not impressed with this coaching staff right now, and recruiting is going to suffer big time if they keep making questionable decisions.  And if recruiting tails off then what do we have left? Scary thoughts.

I agree. You can't help but question was chasing records more important than giving a kid a chance to play who had earned more opportunities

I was listening last week to one of the call-in shows with coach. The caller questioned how schools around the  country has all these specialist/analyst working in football and did we have any. The answer was; we HAD 6 but were down to one because he did not think it was a big help. The example he gave was, he had a defensive analyst but since he coached the defense he did not need one. Simple answer but very telling.
