Gamecock loses commitment from 4-star RB Lovasea Carroll 2021 recruit after loss to North Carolina

Sept. 01, 2019

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Carroll is the No. 8 running back in the 2021 class and the No. 20 overall recruit from the state of Georgia. Carroll was the only player in the Gamecocks’ 2021 class, so now it’s down to zero commitments. Carroll originally committed to the Gamecocks back in April.

He actually was planning this before the game - he had tweeted that there would be big news this weekend.

But the loss will hurt recruiting badly  - our hopes for a Top 15 or better class depended on winning battles with UNC for North Carolina/Charlotte area recruits, Until yesterday, we were thinking that we would pin a one-sided loss on UNC and then go on to a better season, which could sway recruits on the fence. Oops!
