4 star WR Mike Williams 6'4" 185lbs of Lake Marion has set July 31st as his decision day, and he will announce at his school for either USC or Clemson. The two are even and Williams said they'll stay that way until he makes the call. Monday night Williams made an appearance at the USC Showcase Camp. "It was good I got a chance to be coached by Coach Spurrier Jr.," Williams said. "I've met him a lot of time but I never got a chance to be coached by him. We worked on my route running." Williams also talked to his recruiter Everette Sands and he sees a good opportunity at USC. "I can go in and play as a freshman," he said. "Maybe start." His last visit to Clemson was for a camp in June and he has no plans to return before he makes his decision. "I like their offense and the way they move the ball up and down the field and get the ball to the wide receivers," Williams said. Williams said the fact USC is closer to his home is not a factor, and he said both are recruiting him with the same effort level. link: http://www.goupstate...9715/-1/PSPORTS

Clemson leads USC in race for Williams

WR Mike Williams of Lake Marion will announce a college decision Tuesday at 5:00 PM at his school. He has narrowed his list to Clemson and USC and has gone back and forth between the two over the past few months. But with just a few days to go, Williams said there is a frontrunner. “Clemson has got an edge,” Williams said. “It’s real close. I feel wanted at Clemson. It’s all a family. And I can come in and play as a freshman. I can be the “nine” guy where Nuke Hopkins plays and I could get a thousand yards easy.” Williams was at Clemson last Friday and talked with several of the coaches and recruits. He’s in regular contact with Clemson recruiters Marion Hobby and Jeff Scott and USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. thru Facebook. While there is a leader, Williams insists there is not yet a winner. “South Carolina can catch up,” he said adding that he’s not sweating out the final decision. “I’m calm and cool with it.”
