Carolina is seeking just the fourth 11-1 start in program history and the team is also seeking its first eight-game home win streak since the 2015-16 team won its first 13 home games of the season.

Gamecocks pulled away to close the game to a 70-43 win to improve to 11-1. The Gamecocks led 55-39 with 5:44 left to play, then out-scored the Elon Phoenix 15-4 and held them to no field goals over the final 3:35 of the game.

Ta'lon Cooper led the way with 20 pts and 6 rebounds. Myles Stute added 11 pts and 8 boards, Jacobi Wright added 10 pts with 3 rebounds and 3 assists, and Collin Murray-Boyles chipped in 10 pts and 3 boards...

The Gamecocks next host Florida A&M next week after tomorrow at 2:00 pm.......

Didn't get to the game until halftime. Totally brain-farted on the 6 pm start time, but I was tired from doing some yard work anyway. LOL

I sat on the side facing the Gamecock bench for the first time in a while tonight.

Lamont coached from the sidelines the entire game and that's one of the reasons we have won so many games this season along with having the right players for Lamont's system.

The home crowd was thin like you would expect right before Christmas, but the lines for the free hot dogs were pretty long at halftime.

The crowd erupted when the offense would get going and helped energize the team some in the second half.

This is the best team we have had in years. They are good on both ends of the court when they need to be and it's worked out so far.

We will hit some bumps in SEC play for sure, but I am looking forward to the opener against MSST. This is just a fun team to watch in person.

The Gamecocks snapped a two-game skid against the Phoenix, losing 65-53 at home in the last meeting in November 2012. They lead the series 3-2.
That was Frank's first season with us. We lost to Elon back then. Thanks, Darrin Horn. LOL

KEY STAT

The Gamecock defense allowed a season low 43 points and a new career-low under head coach Lamont Paris surpassing the previous low of 53 against USC Upstate and Notre Dame on Nov. 6 and Nov. 28. Carolina held Elon to just 32.0 percent shooting (16-for-50) from the floor and just 14.3 percent (2-for-14) from three. The Phoenix came into tonight's game averaging 83.8 points per game, which was 32nd in the country.

  • The victory marks the fourth 11-1 start in program history (1933-34, 2003-04, 2015-16, and 2023-24).
  • The win also marks the team's first eight-game home win streak since the 2015-16 season when the team started the year 13-0 at home. That tied the longest home win streak since the 1997-98 team won 13-in-a-row at home.

Love the way Cooper continues to grow as a leader for this team, with Meechie we have 2 players that can set the tone.
Love how Paris doesn't panic and make knee jerk decisions but never stops coaching!
He gives his shooters the confidence to continue shooting when open, even if they have not hit a shot all night.
His players continue to make the extra pass to find that shooter if he is open, you can see it in the confidence of the shot in players like Davis and Wright.
They continue to get better on defense and gel this will be a very, very dangerous tourney team if Paris can get just a little bit more from Clark, BBV and Gray on the defensive end and boards.
With BJ Mack playing pick and pop with any of the shooters and gifted athletes Paris is building a culture, this ride is going to be fun, hang on!

Yeah, the passes to the post to Clark seem to be out of synch a few ticks as well, but Lamont is still pushing it because we will need it going forward.

I wish BBV would just elevate on his rebounds and jam it, but you can see how he's trying to draw fouls, too.
