Ubisoft Exec: You need to get used to not owning your own games

Yep, unfortunately that's the direction gaming is going. Some games now are only able to play "live" on the company's servers. So even if you bought the game, all play is dependent on a company's existence/whims. If your internet is down or if the studio's servers are down, you can't play the game you purchased.

I know Playstation used to have a shop where you could rent or buy movies. Playstation's contract ran out with the studios that owned those movies, and the customers were no longer able to play the titles that they had purchased. Digital Rights Management is not customer friendly.
