PG Marcus Stroman commits to USC (Thread) (2014 basketball prospect video)

The USC basketball team Monday landed a commitment for the 2014 class from 6-1 180lbs Marcus Stroman of Keenan High School in Columbia. Stroman is considered to be one of the state's top prospects in his class. "He's very humble," Keenan coach Zach Norris. "He has excellent knowledge of the game. He's the type of player who makes everybody else better around him. He has excellent fundamentals and sees the whole court very well. He has a knack for putting the ball in the right place for other people to score. He could take over the game and score more points but he really likes making assists and that turns him on." Stroman also drew attention from Clemson, Miami, Virginia Tech, Auburn and Middle Tennessee State. But USC was the first to offer and that's all he needed to hear. "The hometown school had a big factor," Norris said. "That's his life dream to play for the University of South Carolina." Stroman was at USC last Friday and met with first year head coach Frank Martin and staff, and he liked what he heard. "He was telling me how he lets his guards play and dictate the game and run the show," said Stroman who averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists per game last season. And his coach is looking for a much better player to emerge over the next two seasons before he gets to USC. "We're going to work on his body and try to get him to get bigger and stronger," Norris said. "We want to work on his go to move. Really he has two. One comes from Tim Hardaway with that crossover."
