Ellis Johnson vacated his job at Carolina shortly before the Gamecocks took on Nebraska in the CapitalOne Bowl. There was much consternation among many of our fans because many wanted him on the sideline against the Cornhuskers. But Johnson wanted to get going right away at Southern Miss. So Whammy took over and did a marvelous job as we all know, I wondered if Ellis felt a little remorse because that was a huge win for us and our defense. But it was his decision to leave early. The irony is Southern Miss takes on Nebraska at Nebraska to open the 2012 season on Sept 1.
