Gamecocks missed on a top wide receiver target Thursday when Keylen Adams announced for Virginia Tech. According to Hale McGranahan of TheBigSpur, Adams had actually committed to USC coach Shane Beamer in June and was one of the commitment alerts Beamer tweeted out at that time. An official visit to Virginia Tech later in June, however, turned the Tide for the Hokies

The Hokies have been MIA in the ACC for a while; don't know why a kid would pick them over an SEC team.

Oh, well.

Year 3 is the tale of the tape with a new HC. Either Shane will solidify his chops as a head coach (which I believe to be both likely and possible) or he will start a downward trajectory.

Shane has simply gotten too much of a core of solid talent in the 2023 and 2024 classes for good things not to happen this season.

If we do well this season, then I think we're looking at 2/3 of the 2024 class being 4* and above.
