Gamecock recruiting report
May 18, 2022

Gamecocks Monday night offered Dorman OT DJ Geth (6-6 310). The Gamecocks are hoping to land both Cavalier tackles as they have long pursued Markee Anderson. Geth is the son of former North Carolina basketball player Ed Geth and is just coming into his own in the football recruiting world. He was named the OL MVP at the recent Palmetto Combine in the Upstate. Some of his other offers include North Carolina, Coastal Carolina, James Madison, Marshall, Liberty Troy, Charlotte, Tulane, and Georgia State. This spring he made visits to the Gamecocks for the spring game along with stops at Clemson, LSU, Louisville, and Coastal Carolina.

DT Elijah Davis of Wagener-Salley and East Mississippi JC is home until May 28th. He said Monday night he’s planning to take an unofficial visit to the Gamecocks before he returns to the junior college. Davis said he is in regular contact with Gamecock defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey who is making a strong push for him. This summer, he plans to visit USC, Alabama, and Tennessee. Davis added recent offers from Maryland and Texas. He also has offers from Florida State, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Miami, Auburn, and Georgia.

Recruiting has taken a back seat to the discus and the shot put for OT DJ Chester of McDonough, GA. The defending state champion in both events is focused on a repeat and not football offers or visits at this point. That will change once his track season is done. In fact, he plans to name a top 15 on May 27th. The Gamecocks were one of his spring visits and the Gamecocks remain a recruiting fixture with him. Chester said he really likes the Gamecocks and talks to one of their coaches nearly every day. He has also visited Miami, Ole Miss, East Carolina, Mississippi State and Nebraska. Offers continue to come in for Chester who has added to his board. this month Arkansas and Georgia Tech. His other offers are Florida State, Ole Miss, Boston College, Auburn, Maryland, Kansas, Pitt, Michigan, NC State, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Louisville. He has not yet set any official visits.
