The series begins Thursday night (May 16) at 6:30 p.m. CT (7:30 p.m. ET). The two teams then face each other Friday night at 6:30 p.m. CT (7:30 p.m. ET) and conclude play Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET). All three games will be streamed on SEC Network +. All games will be broadcast on The Game 107.5 FM and the Gamecock Sports Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. That includes a three-game sweep at Ole Miss last weekend. In the Tech win, Justin Foscue was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Rowdy Jordan drove in a pair. Jake Mangum, the all-time hits leader in the SEC, leads Mississippi State with a .392 batting average while Foscue has 13 home runs. On the mound, Ethan Small is 7-1 with a 1.73 ERA and 132 strikeouts. THE SERIES Carolina holds a 38-33 series advantage on Mississippi State heading into the series in Starkville. The two teams met in 2017 with the Bulldogs taking 2-of-3 games from the Gamecocks. Carolina won the series finale, 6-1, as Madison Stokes was 3-for-4 and LT Tolbert drove in a pair of runs. Carolina is 15-18 all-time against Mississippi State in Starkville. BEAMON'S WALK-OFF LIFTS GAMECOCKS ON TUESDAY NIGHT Freshman Jonah Beamon's single to left scored Jacob English in the bottom of the ninth inning as Carolina defeated USC Upstate 1-0 on May 14. It was the Gamecocks' fifth walk-off win of the year and first 1-0 win since May 13, 2018, in a win over Missouri. Beamon had a pair of hits in the win, while classmate Wes Clarke was 3-for-4 with two doubles, including a two-bagger to open the ninth. ROAD TO HOOVER Carolina heads into the final weekend of SEC play tied with Kentucky and Alabama for the 12th and final spot in the conference tournament. While the Gamecocks are at Mississippi State, Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt and Alabama is at Georgia. Carolina holds the tie-breaker with Kentucky, while Alabama has the tie-break with the Gamecocks. Carolina would not win a three-team tie-break after being swept by Georgia and Vanderbilt.

Ricky Martinez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Pete Derkay scored a pair of runs. Tennessee, who got off to a 15-0 start that included a sweep of Indiana, was swept in its SEC opening series at Auburn. Martinez leads the Vols with a .382 batting average while Alerick Soularie had seven home runs and 18 RBI. Tennessee really shines on the mound, coming in with a 2.24 ERA and 225 strikeouts in 193 innings pitched. Garrett Stallings, who will start on Friday night, is 4-1 with a 1.27 ERA and 42 strikeouts compared to just three walks. THE SERIES Carolina leads the all-time series with Tennessee, 64-36, and has won the last nine contests against the Vols. Last season, Carolina swept Tennessee in Columbia, winning 6-1, 6-2 and 6-3. HOPKINS NOTES Senior TJ Hopkins is tied for the team and SEC lead with eight home runs to go along with six doubles and a conference best three triples this season ... Hopkins is tied for the team lead with a .345 batting average heading into the Tennessee series while slugging a conference-best .759 and leading the team with four stolen bases ... Hopkins had a pair of home runs in Tuesday's 12-7 win over Furman. It is the second time in his career he has hit two home runs in a game. He had a pair on March 7, 2017, against The Citadel ... Hopkins hit for the cycle in the 12-6 win over Valpo on March 10. He homered in the fourth, doubled in the fifth, singled in the seventh and tripled in the eighth. It was the first cycle for a Gamecock since Kyle Martin at Florida in 2015 ... Hopkins earned the Tom Price Award, given to the Most Valuable Player of the Clemson series, after hitting three home runs and driving in nine on the weekend. For his efforts, Hopkins was named the SEC Player of the Week and National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA ... Hopkins leads or is tied for the SEC lead in home runs, triples, total bases (66) and slugging percentage. SHOOK BOUNCES BACK TO STYMIE BULLDOG BATS Redshirt sophomore TJ Shook went walk, hit by pitch, walk to start the Georgia game on March 17. The Irmo, S.C., native settled down to get a pair of pop outs and strikeout, then put up zeroes for the next three innings before exiting after a leadoff double to start the fifth. On the day, Shook allowed just the one hit with six strikeouts in four-plus inning. He currently is 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 16.2 innings pitched. SEC LEADERS At the plate, Jacob Olson and TJ Hopkins are tied for the SEC lead with eight home runs. Hopkins leads the league in total bases (66), is tied for the lead in home runs (8), tied for the lead in triples (3) and leads in slugging percentage (.759). Olson is third in slugging percentage (.726) and second in total bases (61). Luke Berryhill is tied for fourth in doubles (9), tied for sixth in slugging percentage (.667), ninth in total bases (50) and sixth in RBI (27). On the mound, Reid Morgan is tied for second with 33.1 innings pitched and Cam Tringali is tied for second with 11 appearances. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network. All games will be broadcast on The Game 107.5 FM with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. Carolina was swept by No. 8 Georgia this past weekend, falling 6-1 in the opener, 8-7 on Saturday and 4-2 in the series finale. PROBABLE PITCHING ROTATION TuesdaySouth Carolina Daniel Lloyd (Fr. Logan Taplett also has three home runs and 10 RBI. The Gamecocks will see lefty John Michael Bertrand on the mound on Tuesday. Bertrand is 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched. He earned the win last Wednesday at USC Upstate, allowing three runs in six innings. THE SERIES Carolina leads the all-time series with the Paladins, 116-56-2, heading into Tuesday's game. The two teams each won a game on the road last season. Furman picked up a 6-4 win in Columbia on Feb. 27 while the Gamecocks won in Greenville, 10-2, on April 24. In the win, Jonah Bride had four hits while TJ Hopkins was 3-for-5 and Carlos Cortes had four RBI. ALLEN, PEREZ GET ON BASE FOR THE GAMECOCKS Freshman Brady Allen leads the team and is seventh in the SEC with 18 walks to go along with a .404 on-base percentage this season. Allen has reached base in 17 straight games and in 19 of Carolina's 20 contests this season. He homered in the SEC opener against Georgia (March 15) and has home runs in the season and conference openers. Junior Quinntin Perez is leading the team with a .490 on-base percentage thanks to 10 walks and seven hit-by-pitches. Perez had two hits and an RBI in Sunday's game against Georgia (March 17) and has made the start at second base the last two contests. SEC LEADERS At the plate, Jacob Olson leads the conference in home runs with eight and in total bases with 59. He also is second in slugging percentage (.747). TJ Hopkins is second in total bases (56), is tied for fourth in home runs (6), tied for the lead in triples (3) and is fifth in slugging percentage (.675).
