  2. Virginia Remains Atop BA’s Top 25 02/17/14 DURHAM, N.C.—After a 2-1 opening weekend, Virginia remains No. 1 in Baseball America’s Top 25 rankings. The Cavs bounced back from an opening day loss to Kentucky with two dominating performances against Virginia Military Institute and UNC Wilmington, getting four-hit ball from Nathan Kirby on Saturday and no-hit stuff over six innings from Josh Sborz in Sunday’s win. Oregon State stays at No. 2 after beating Gonzaga, Nebraska and Pacific at the Husker Classic in Tempe, Ariz., to open the season. Michael Conforto had a big weekend, with a combined eight RBIs Saturday and Sunday. Cal State Fullerton moves up a spot to No. 3 after winning a series against Washington State. Florida State climbs two spots to fourth after blitzing Niagara in a three-game sweep. Indiana falls from third to 10th, as the Hoosiers mustered just eight runs in going 1-3 against Texas Tech . Cal Poly is the only new entrant, moving into the No. 22 spot, which was vacated by Kansas State after the Mustangs swept the Wildcats. K-State falls out of the Top 25. Once again, the SEC leads the way with eight teams in the Top 25, led by South Carolina at No. 5. The ACC has six Top 25 teams, followed by Pac-12 with three, including defending champ, UCLA which rallied to win its series against Portland after dropping the opener. The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records do not include ties. Team W-L Last Week Previous Ranking 1. Virginia 2-1 2-1 1 2. Oregon State 3-0 3-0 2 3.
