  1. A nifty tidbit about JUCO players - The reigning World Series MVP was a JUCO transfer.
  2. UGa will beat us. The only question is how badly. UF - I just don't see that one going in our favor. My view, of course, may change after the UF/LSU game this weekend. UF looked good against AU. UT - We should be the dog-snot out of them, but it will be closer than many will like. I would be a little more confident if it were at home.
  3. If we could have some scrimmages that started closer to 5 pm, that'd be great.
  4. Getting back to the original question, I would say it's always been assumed there were 3 Magi since there were only 3 gifts bestowed upon Christ. But the Bible does not give an exact number.
  5. The age is due to his meeting with the Magi, based on how long they had been following the Star of Bethlehem, looking for the "King of the Jews". The Massacre was ordered because the Magi did not return to Herod, as requested, after their meeting the Christ child. My Catholic upbringing is paying off. This link might be helpful too, in explaining the passage in Matthew relating to the Massacre. https://www.gotquestions.org/Massacre-of-the-Innocents.html
  6. The Massacre of the Innocents called for the execution of male children 2 years and younger. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that Christ was closer to age 2 than a newborn.
  7. As Spork said...we can dream. The two party system, as it is today with the extremes of both parties taking over, has destroyed what used to make this Nation great. This refusal to compromise on anything, stomping your feet like petulant children to get your way, is disgusting and no way to do business.
  8. JUCOs in football are usually guys that originally committed to that University to begin with, but had to go to JUCO because of grades or some other reason. That is why they are graded differently than JUCOs in Baseball. People follow JUCO recruits in baseball a great deal because historically JUCO players have made some of the biggest differences in the game.
  9. No, baseball rankings are not like Football and Basketball. Final Baseball rankings, which this is, include the guys we already have on campus. Baseball classes receive their final rankings in the fall after classes start, i.e. 2019 Baseball Recruiting Class = Fall 2019 enrollees at USC.
  10. Beaver can flat out hit the damn ball. He is a monster. I just hope it's not a feast or famine situation with him. He seems to be a pretty good backstop behind the plate too. What I saw of his throws to second when I went to the scrimmage, he got the ball there timely. But our MINF was booting the ball around. I left my roster in the car, so I'll get back to you on the LHP situation later. We do have Dylan Harley. He's gotten better now that he is healed and he's lost the head twitch.
  11. This week's scrimmages will be Tuesday at 3:00 pm, and Friday at 3:00 pm. UPDATED with new times.
  12. This is a great time to see some old faces. https://gamecocksonline.com/news/2019/9/4/baseball-to-hold-alumni-weekend-oct-18-19.aspx The Alumni Game is Friday Oct 18 at 6:30 pm at the Ballpark.
  13. For those who want to plan ahead. the scrimmage against GT is set for Sunday Oct 20. That is also Baseball Alumni Weekend, with the Alumni Game that Friday night at the ballpark.
  14. This week's schedule - Friday 3:15 pm Sunday 3 pm @NCSU We also had one yesterday, but I didn't make it.
  15. https://gamecocksonline.com/news/2019/9/23/baseballs-recruiting-class-ranked-no-3-in-the-country-by-collegiate-baseball.aspx Not too bad.
