Game time announced for South Carolina-Alabama SEC showdown

May 29, 2019

The South Carolina-Alabama football game in 2019 will get the full CBS treatment.

CBS announced the Tide’s visit to Williams-Brice Stadium will be at 3:30 on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The last time the teams met was a classic. The Crimson Tide was on a 19-game winning streak, a 32-2 run that included a national title.

Alabama was ranked No. 1, coming off a pair of top-10 wins, but Stephen Garcia went 17-for-20, with Alshon Jeffery catching seven passes for 127 yards and a pair of scores. The Gamecocks went up 18 points early on, weathering a comeback attempt as Marcus Lattimore ground out 93 yards on 23 carries, punching in the game-icing touchdown with 7 minutes left.

Alabama leads the all-time series 12-3. The teams have not faced off since that game, owing to the SEC’s cross-divisional rotation. East and West teams only see each other every six years (outside protected rivalries), and only see the others’ stadiums every 12.

The Gamecocks open on Aug. 31 against North Carolina at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Carolina then hosts Charleston Southern. Kickoff times and television coverage for those games will be announced later this summer.

The Tide have played in the past four national title games and will likely enter 2019 as a preseason Top-2 team with Heisman finalist Tua Tagovailoa at the helm of the offense.

They say the last time we played them, was Garcia's career game as USC QB. I would have no problem with this year's game being Bentley's career game, as well....
