2/17/18 - Liberty (W, 3-2)

NOTES:
The Gamecocks lost a heartbreaker, 6-5 in 11 innings, in the season opener but rebounded to win the series, taking Saturday's game 13-7 before winning 3-2 on a walk-off wild pitch with no one out in the ninth. Luke Berryhill walked to start that inning and moved to third on Jacob Olson's single to center. With Quinntin Perez at the plate, Garret Price's first pitch was wild, scoring Berryhill from third.

Gamecock pitching struck out 38 batters in the Liberty series. Sawyer Bridges had six punchouts in the season opener, while Brett Kerry, Dylan Harley and TJ Shook had five apiece.

South Carolina received a quality start on Sunday from Reid Morgan, who struck out three and allowed six hits and no walks in six innings of work. Morgan made his first appearance in a Carolina uniform after transferring from San Jacinto CC.

TJ Hopkins and Jacob Olson both hit a pair of home runs on the weekend. The seniors both have a 1.000 slugging percentage after three games. Olson now has 20 career home runs while Hopkins has 10 in his Carolina tenure.

Brady Allen hit a three-run home run in his first collegiate at-bat on Friday. He was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a walk in that contest.

Nick Neville leads the Gamecocks with a .444 batting average after three games. He's 4-for-9 with a double, four walks and an RBI through Sunday's contests.

Brett Kerry worked three perfect innings on the mound in two relief appearances this past weekend. He struck out five and earned the win in Sunday's game, pitching two innings for the victory.
