The Garnet team rallied with two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull out a 28-16 win over Black in a see-saw affair that saw five lead changes, as the South Carolina Gamecock football team wrapped up its 2019 spring drills with the annual Garnet & Black Spring Game on Saturday afternoon.
Cyndi and Kenneth Long Family Football Operations Center will be the new front porch for Carolina Football. According to USC, the main entrance into the building opens into a two-story lobby with a 20-foot high "Block C" logo. The lobby will include a display of Georgia Rogers' Heisman Trophy and displays for bowl trophies.
Several interactive screens throughout the lobby of the ops center will document the history of the the program. South Carolina's "Build Your Legacy" corridor connects all of the main spaces on the first floor from the player entry to the locker room to the training room to the weight room. The Legacy corridor will feature retired jerseys, record holders, national award winners and academic accolades and statistics. The player entry area includes an interactive NFL display with information about past and current players in the pros. The primary nutrition area located at the heart of the building allows for constant interaction with athletes and staff for nutritional guidance. The 20,000-square foot, two-story weight room includes custom weight racks and a variety of strength training equipment. There's a recording studio, too.

Jake Bentley threw for four touchdowns, Rico Dowdle scored twice and South Carolina beat Coastal Carolina 49-15 Saturday in a season opener for each team.
In a season of one dominant team and a bunch of disappointments in the SEC East, resilient South Carolina figured out another way to win, overcoming four turnovers to beat Florida 28-20 on Saturday and reach heights the Gamecocks have rarely achieved.
South Carolina (7-3, 5-3 Southeastern) can't win what would have been only been its second SEC East title. But the Gamecocks will finish with only its eighth winning SEC record in 26 seasons in the league.

The University of South Carolina Football team took the field at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday for the annual Garnet & Black Spring Game. The Black team earned the victory, 35-14, in front of 32,916 fans excited to see the first competition of theWill Muschamp era.
The Will Muschamp Era of South Carolina Football began Tuesday when the Gamecock squad took to the practice fields for the first time to begin spring drills. The team, dressed in garnet helmets and shorts, was greeted by a perfect spring day in the Palmetto State.
“It was a typical first day,” said Coach Muschamp following the first workout. “A lot going on, a lot of anxiety. There are some things we can really coach from off the film. We’ve got a lot to work on, obviously, with the tempo of practice and all those things we need to vastly improve, but we will.”
