A day in the life of South Carolina fall camp

August 11, 2017

The members of the South Carolina football team go through long days in August.

Long days aren’t exactly a rarity, as many teams have lifts or film work early for much of the year, and meetings that often run late. But USC coach Will Muschamp also likes his practices early, getting the day started with a little hitting.

Besides getting everyone up at times when most students wouldn’t stir, the schedule provides something else.

“Coach Muschamp, with his schedule he sets up, we’re here for 12-13 hours a day,” tight and and captain Hayden Hurst said. “Some of the guys, at first, ‘Aww, man. I want to go home.’ But I think that’s done wonders for our team because it builds camaraderie.”

Most of USC’s practices are at nine, and guard Donell Stanley laid out exactly what these days entail:

▪ 6 a.m.- Wake up

▪ 6:30 - Go to treatment

▪ 7 - Go eat breakfast

▪ Get taped

▪ 8:25 - Be on the field

▪ 9 a.m. - Practice

▪ After practice - Get lunch, treatment

▪ A few hours of downtime to get a in lift, go to sleep, study hall if it's needed

▪ Meetings for the rest of the day
