At the halfway point for the Gamecocks and the rest of the SEC 2017 Season. What is the out look the rest of the way?

Hard to believe but we are halfway through the 2017 football season, with that said let's take a peek at what was and what lays ahead for the Gamecocks plus other members of the SEC.

So far the cream of the SEC lays with three teams in order Bama, the Georgia Bulldogs and the War eagles Auburn. My picks is Bama in the West and Georgia in the East to match up in the SEC Title game and I just got a feeling that the student is going to beat the teacher in this title match. Yah those hairy Dogs going to the play-offs with Bama getting in as well. I see to SEC times playing in the play-off series along with Clemson and Ohio St. That's my outcome and I'm sticking with it.

Now for the rest of the SEC pecking order in order as of the end of 6 weeks in the East Florida , yes the Gamecocks next teams to fall in line are Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and last is Mizzou.

In the mighty west the following are Texas A&M, Mississippi State, LSU, Ole Miss. with Arkansas at the bottom.

Now what's left on the Gamecocks Schedule. The Gamecocks stand at 4-2 the two losses are from two good teams Texas A&M & Kentucky both team should be bowl bound. Net up for the Gamecocks is Tennessee, kick off set for high noon Nelan Stadium on the ESPN Network.

Tennessee is a team in flux, can a win against the Gamecocks but them back on track? Well first you gotta beat the Gamecocks, The Gamecocks are inching forward with the defense improving every game and the offense is finally getting over the lose of life without Deebo.

The weak performances by the offensive line where due to three major starting offensive lineman being out, due to injures will start to creep back into the line. Which will be good news for Bentley which at times has had some problems of his own. Maybe the showing up of the running game against the Razorbacks will affect the pass rush, making him at times look puzzled, confused which as affected him somewhat.

Good to fair running game will cause the pass rush not to be so effective with teams like Texas A&M but a number on him in terms of sacks. Tennessee coach Butch Jones loses Saturday most like he will be gone by season ends.

Gamecocks win they are 5-2 and should have wins against Vanderbilt at the COCK-PIT along with Wofford Terriers 7-5 looks realistic on paper can they pick up a 8th win. Best shot is Florida at the swamp. The Gators are having problems scoring points and I could see a win. For the rest of the remaining schedule Georgia & Clemson two teams I feel will be in the play-offs. Sorry folks best is 8-4 maybe Outback bowl in the picture. Not bad considering where we were two years ago.

My coaches on the hot seat for the 2017 season are Butch Jones, Tennessee, Bret Bielema, Arkansas and Barry Odom, Missouri. Seats that could get warm by season ends are Ed Oregeron, LSU, Jim McElwain, Florida. Well enough said let's get ready for the second half of the 2017 season.
